Bridge Series Photo # 10

The Macombs Dam Bridge: connects West 155th Street in Manhattan with East 161st Street and Jerome Avenue in the Bronx. Also a major way to get from Manhattan to Yankee Stadium by car, bus or foot. The main span crosses the Harlem River Drive and the Harlem River as well as Metro North Railroads Hudson Line and swings open for passing boat traffic. The little span crosses over the Deegan Expressway. Per the NYCDOT Website: This bridge officially opened in 1895, at a cost of $2,537,312. It was renamed the Macombs Dam Bridge in 1902. New ramp connections were constructed on the Bronx side in 1920, when Yankee Stadium was being built.

I initially tried to take a photo of High Bridge aqueduct today but coming from the Manhattan side I just couldn't get a good angle, Even THIS bridge was a struggle as it is surrounded by highways -- Thanks Robert Moses. If your interested in seeing some shots of my walk today you can visit my FLICKR and check out the first 7 photos.

You can check out the other bridges in my series by clicking on the tag :)
