Journalling
'Write what should not be forgotten' - Isabelle Allende
For as long as I can remember I've kept a journal of one form of another. Not always in a disciplined consistent day by day way or in a notebook format but in one way or another I've regularly taken time to jot some thoughts on paper or on occasion the laptop.
I've always loved writing and there's something particularly soothing about putting pen to paper - especially when it's a fountain pen and you have the smell of the ink (hmmm) - and just letting your thoughts flow. It's a great way of just clearing the head and sometimes of making a little sense of what is going on around you when nothing seems to be simple or clear. I guess that's why this weekend I found myself digging out my latest journal to do some serious journalling when there are so many other things I should be dealing with. I should be doing some serious prep for an interview on Tuesday for a job that I'm pretty interested in and I should be checking up on my dad who seemingly is not too well but I'm tired and both situations are stressing me - so maybe I should finish my blipping and my journalling, clear my head and head to bed for the night and deal with both of these with a clearer head in the morning.
'Find out the reason that commands you to write; see whether it has spread its roots into the very depth of your heart; confess to yourself you would have to die if you were forbidden to write'
Rainer Maria Rilke
