We Were Here
My photo room at school is inside the kindergarten hut, and when I left I saw the hands and the photos of the kids on the door. It all looked so colorful and it reminded me of the real reason why I stay working up at the school. I especially like the high school students because I learn so much from them when they take a photo class. I don't think I'd have gotten back into photography if it wasn't for those kids. Still, at some point I think it's probably time to move on.
But then I take a look at the life-long friends I've made with some of them, and I wonder how my life would have run differently if I hadn't met them. It would have been completely different than it is now. Completely.
One ex-student I photographed in New York said I had known him half his life, and he wanted to do something extraordinary to celebrate that closeness. Those photos are some of the best I've ever taken. There's one hanging above my desk that I'd show you if it wasn't against the idea of blipfoto. So, just take my word for it. It's amazing.... as is he.
