Happy Stopper

Digging in the garden this morning, my wife and I came across this little object buried in the soil.

He turned out to be a green glass bottle stopper, complete with a ground glass collar where he once fitted into the neck of his bottle.

He scrubbed up very neatly, and appeared to be in a remarkably good state after all those years in the ground.

He even managed a little smile to thank us for rescuing him, and for all our care and concern.
