Tay Ghillie

The long way in....

We drove through non-stop rain and as we parked at Dalwhinnie, we wondered the sense of our trip. Anyway after a few minutes the weather brightened a little so we jumped on our bikes for the long ride down the shore of Loch Ericht, with a hill at the head of Strath Pattack our objective. The track was smooth until we passed the palatial lodge towards the head of the loch and then we turned inland where the track came to a fairly abrupt halt. Nothing for it but to push our bikes the remainder of the way. Frogs were active in the puddles alongside the tracks and after 20kms. from our start we found a nice spot to camp the night. I still had enough energy to nip up Beinn Eagain while my lovely wife stayed at the tent and tended the wee fire we had. All in all a great day.
