till may is out..

My mum used to tell me this..
NOW, this is what i remember she told me was May blossom..

so.. what does that saying mean..

is it dont think winters over til the may blossom is out..
OR
til the may blossom is over??

Mmmm.. ste and i pondered this as we wandered along the towpath to Bradford on avon today...
we came to no real conclusion..
BUT im sure someone out there will know the meaning behind the olde wives tale...
