Folk music

Went to Woodend Barn at Banchory last night to see Blazin' Fiddles and they were brilliant - and Woodend is such a fine wee venue for them too. At the interval, I bought their new CD "Thursday Night in the Caley" and "Escape" by Jenna and Bethany Reid. The latter is a suite that combines words and music to tell the amazing Arctic escape story of Jan Baalsrud one of the WW2 Norwegian resistance fighters who manned The Shetland Bus.

Folk music is great in that it helps to keep the stories of the past alive, and the deeds of Jan Baalsrud and his brave comrades are certainly well worth remembering.

... and the 2 new CDs make for an nice emergency blip late on a Saturday night too :-)
