Unexpected Graces
There are things that fall into our days unbidden, unheralded, completely unanticipated.
For instance, a dear family friend in Philly emailed and out of the blue, just like that, announced that she had picked up the phone, dialed a local bakery in Virginia Beach, and ordered this "Mozart Cake" (layers of raspberry and bavarian cream and chocolate ganache on top) for us to pick up today and enjoy this weekend.
Just as we came back from that errand and were pulling into our driveway, we got a text message from our second eldest daughter, saying she had just figured in a car accident; her car was very badly damaged, but she was Oh thank God and all the spirits, blessedly, miraculously unhurt.
My heart is still racing and I still feel like a nervous wreck inside.
But yes, I am full of gratitude for the unexpected graces.

Earlier today, poet-publisher-editor Dave Bonta blogged at Via Negativa about how my poem yesterday was my 100th straight post on the site (though he says I have logged 108 poems). My poem yesterday was "Letter to Self, Somewhere Other than Here".
