More Water

I'm tired of writing about the weather, as if nothing else ever happens here. But. The street flooded again this morning from the nearby creek and the garden was under water; it's hard for me to ignore that. The brave vendors sold their naturally misted vegetables at the farmers' market to a few hardy shoppers, and a couple stores downtown rigged up tarps to have their monthly sidewalk sale. What we need now is a chance to get out there and plant some vegetables!

And, for those inquiring minds who asked: this protea is Isopogon formosus, or Rose Cone Flower, sometimes known as Drumsticks because of the oval cones it produces. It is native to western Australia, but grows quite nicely here on the coast. Huge thanks to the UCSC Arboretum for the fastest ID in the West!
