Sound System Of The Queen

If you're observant, you will notice I have missed a day blipping. Yesterday was a crazy busy day for me. The morning and afternoon was spent at home sorting music and arranging my set for a new club night I'm involved with called Queen Sound System.

QSS was launched last night at East Bloc in Shoreditch - and with any luck it's the first of many nights to come. The concept behind the night is like music to my ears, literally, because it's a genre that I rarely get the opportunity to play. The adverts promoting QSS display an impressive selection of music played - artists such as Robyn, Depeche Mode, Gossip and Kelis. The night is billed as a celebration of electro, both classic and current.

I've been a massive fan of electro music since I was a kid, so to be involved in a project like this was very exciting.

Yesterday was a mad day in the run-up to Queen Sound System. After prepping for my set (adding and re-organising a CD bag is hugely time consuming!) I made my way to Queen's House for my Club Nation show. After the show, I headed for Old Street tube to make my way to East Bloc. Luckily, I made it in time.

I played for two and a half hours. Ladytron, Yazoo, Roisin Murphy, Beth Ditto, The Ting Tings, Kelis, The Human League and The Japanese Popstars were all featured, and sounded brilliant in the dark, dry-ice confines of the East Bloc's blackened rooms.

The picture you are looking at is the iconic Queen Sound System logo that screamed 'launch party' excitement from the projector screen next to the dj booth.

Looking back, it has certainly been an eventful week for the queens.
