Near Beverley some years ago stood an extensive forest of Oak, called West Woods.....Today Burton Bushes are all that remains of this once extensive woodland . It provided wood for building and in 1520 records show that 4 oak trees were given to repair St Marys Church. The Wstwood is now pasture land and is used for grazing cattle and by hundreds of dog walkers.
