Prickly Pear Cactus

I had a major blipping mishap during the shooting of this picture. Somehow I got a piece of a cactus stuck in my thigh. I couldn't take it out because it was so full of prickles, but luckily a maintenance man in the area had a pair of pliers and he unlodged it. It probably wouldn't have happened if my husband hadn't objected to me carting a ladder up the street to get this picture. He thought that was going too far. (Obviously he is not a blipper.....yet!) I've been wanting this picture for days, but the sky wouldn't cooperate. Today was perfect. I think the buds look like big strawberries and it's the only cactus I've seen exactly like this. Worth the prickles in my leg!
