Foothold

In the steps leading up to B's front door is a hole in the step that used to be for a metal railing stanchion. It could have been a support structure for the Moonbase Alpha launch pad for all I know but that doesn't matter.

It has been claimed by this weed, growing out of the hole and nurtured by the tiny pool of water inside. If there was nobody to pull it out, I wonder how long it would take for the steps (and house) to be reclaimed?

Permanent structures really aren't that permanent as far as the natural world is concerned and our human effort to stretch our civilised skin over the land is fragile at best. Demonstrated by last months adventure.

As far as the planet is concerned, we're a Blip.
