Today's the day ........................ to go to the falls

Left a very chilly (-12) Toronto this morning on a big Canadian train bound for Niagara Falls. This is my first visit to this famous tourist attraction and I wondered if it would live up to my expectations. I had heard varying accounts of how it had been spoilt with tacky casinos and honeymoon hotels.

All I can say is that it completely took my breath away! Yes, there are skyscraper hotels and casinos - but certainly on the Canadian side - you can walk right up to the falls and have an unimpeded view of this incredible wall of water.

There are lots of trips and tours and things you can pay to do, but don't have to. You can see it all for yourself and marvel at it - for free ...........
