Mad World

Over the last few days I've been so caught up in the whole depressing business of job hunting that there's been no time for blipping, no time for music, no time for fun of any kind really apart from a couple of trips to the cinema to see Submarine and The Eagle - both worth a trip if you get the chance!

Anyway so far no jobs but at least I've learned a wonderful new word - attrition risk - seems employers view me as one as I will happily do a job well below what I'm qualified and experienced to do in the naive belief that any job is better than no job in the current economic climate. Guess it's some kind of cosmic karma for all the candidates I turned down when I was recruiting because I thought they would leave the company after 6 months!

So today I gave the whole job hunting thing a bit of a miss and decided to go out and enjoy the sunshine for a while. I headed out to the city centre with nothing much in mind and when I lifted up my eyes to look at the sky this beautiful building caught my attention. It's amazing the incredible architecture that we so often miss in the city because it's above eye level.

When I returned home I discovered I've got an interview for next week - seems the job hunting works better when I don't try - seems like a pretty mad world just now!

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere

Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very, very
Mad world, mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday, happy birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen

Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me, what's my lesson?
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very, very
Mad world, mad world, enlarging your world
Mad world
