Shropshire Union Canal in Chester
Here is another everyday view from Chester. I took this tonight on my way home, it was a really calm warm evening, it feels like summer is here!
Canals were built over 200 years ago, to help move raw materials such as coal, wood, and stone from ports, quarries and mines to factories at the beginning of the industrial revolution. They were only in use for a relatively short period of time before the railways took over. On this one in Chester you can now hire the old narrowboats and spend a leisurely weekend cruising along.
