Jackdaw couple

A small flock of jackdaws live and nest in the school building right nextdoor to us. Every spring they arrive and build their living quarters underneath the eaves. There are maybe 10 of them, maybe a little more, and I suspect it's the same bird individuals each year. I cannot say for sure of course, to me they all look alike, but they behave as if the neighborhood is perfectly familiar to them right from the start. The eaves become like a row of flats, as the families live side by side.

The first couple has already arrived. It's said that jackdaws mate for life and from what I've observed it may well be true. They certainly fly about and do their thing in pairs, all summer long.

These two are just fixing their house it seems, the usual spring cleaning, maybe renovating a little, new wall papers, small paint jobs, isn't that what you do when you get to your summer residence after it having been locked up for the winter months? She is clearly keeping an eye on her husband, checking that everything gets done the way she wants :-)
