Nelson's Column is guarded by four lion statues at it's base.
The name Trafalgar Square commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar - 1805. The original name of the Square was to have been King William the Fourth Square.

Trafalgar Square is owned by the Queen in Right of the Crown and managed by the Greater London Authority.
