What to shoot on a sunny day?

Ha. I scoffed when the books said that cloudy days are great for photo's.

Today sat in the office I was raring to get out in the lunchtime sun and get a blip.

Not that easy though is it? This site is great for a newbie like me to get inspiration from though.

P.S. Anyone know what the thing in this photo is called? My other half says it has a proper name, but I just thought it was a mooring post??
