Statue

This is another of our sculptures made by Cuma. He is made out of a stone similar to pumice stone. When I picked out this statue Cuma (pronounced Joomar) asked me (in Turkish) " Why did you choose this one? How does it make you feel?" I thought for a moment and then replied "peaceful" . He then asked for a piece of paper. I only had an old envelope which I handed to him. He proceeded to write something which I had to translate with my dictionary when I got home. The gist of it was " I send you away like a father seeing a precious child leave. You are part of me and when I sleep at night you will always be in my heart."

I almost felt bad buying it from him!
