The End of an Era

March the 22nd seen the disbandment of 111 Fighter Squadron and the last operational flight of a Tornado F3. Based at Leuchars, Fife, a flight of 4 aircraft departed for one final time to coincide with a disbandment ceremony flypast marking the end of an illustrious RAF Squadron.

Here aircraft ZE791, only a few weeks out of the paint shed having been applied with a new special marked tail, dedicating 25 years of the type in RAF service was the last F3 to land at RAF Leuchars. Of those 25 Years in service many of them were spent providing Air Defence to the UK and trouble spots around the globe.

A sad day for all those involved with the Royal Air Force, Leuchars and the Tornado.
