Right Behind You

Today I had to give a statement to two police officers regarding an attack on a girl I was in the company of on Saturday night. Needless to say it was not the most pleasant experience.

For the past three years, since my flatmate was mugged, we haven't really heard of any incidents of crime affecting our friend group. I don't know whether this was just luck, but it certainly lulled me into a sense of safety and perhaps naivety. To think that things can still happen that are so unbelievably wrong, so inhuman, by people living in the same city as you, is frightening.

Please, please, be careful, be aware, and always tell people where you are going.
