Back to the island

A long weekend and another trip to the storm coast on Vancouver Island.

This is our second visit to Ucluelet, and I know I've said this a lot over the last 10 months but this village may be my most favourite place in the whole world.

This shot was taken at the village lighthouse, where even on a calm day the sea batters the coast line.

What you can't see in this picture is the occasional spouts of gray whales. At this time of year 20,000 whales migrate through these waters as they head north to Alaska. We counted around 7 in the hour we watched.
