The way I see it.

More black and white birds

Guillemots yesterday and Eider ducks today. I came across a little flotilla of them in the harbour at Scrabster. As it says in the RSPB bird identifier they like to stay together and this group did. You get to see 7 of them but there were 38 in total - 17 males and 21 females. The males are very showy and the ladies have stripes in their brown plumage which I never knew before I looked closely on the screen.

There was a very brisk offshore wind so maybe they decided to take shelter instead of being hurtled across the Pentland firth - it also says in the identifier that they like to stay close to shore so they can eat marine molluscs. Guess they would get rather hungry out in the storm tossed firth.
