Backdrop
Been over at the Barony Theatre today working on a backdrop for their next play, Neville's Island. This is an abstract pattern of trees that is going to be cut out and then used like a big gobo to cast shadows and add depth to the stage...
The trick to scaling up a design. First make at 1:25 scale, then photograph, then use a projector to shine the design on the backdrop and trace round it... Fill in any gaps freehand...
The Barony is a great little amateur / community theatre in west lothian, it's got flock wallpaper, velvet seats,a workshop, dressing rooms and a bar. There's a really nice bunch of people that run the place and put on plays and run film nights...
Really like designing for them...
