The kite flyers
A beautiful warm day so N and I took the opportunity of driving to Hive Beach, Burton Bradstock on the Jurassic Coast to sit in the sun and people watch.
I'm afraid I am not showing you the long expanse of pebbly beach which is part of the Chesil Bank, nor the blue sea and beautiful sandstone cliffs, there will be other occasions for that, but instead a blip of these two kite flyers.
Something about the bleak Frome Clay cliffs and the pebbles underfoot reminded me of the book The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, but these kite flyers have nowhere near the skills of the characters in the book. In fact the older man in red is teaching the other one how to handle the kite starting on quite a short string while the rest of the family are sitting in the sun under the cliff. They might have had some competition because a giant red kite showed itself over the top of the cliff but I think it was too large for the breeze to lift it into the air today!
