Expectations

Driving up to Annie's Cottage, today, I felt the excitement of what my guests will feel tomorrow as they arrive for the first time. The greatest compliments that we receive go something like, "not only did it meet my expectations, but it exceeded them!" and, "I just felt this amazing peace when I walked in the door". No kidding, exactly that! Well, that just makes me all warm and sunshiny inside!

There was a bright sun, obviously behind the clouds today. The fog practically glowed, and it looked to me like I could get a retro-looking shot as I drove up. This is pretty much what I was looking for. Yippee!

The sign that lets people know they are in the right place looks like this. It reminds me of the schoolboy carvings on a tree. Paul made it and put it in the window while we were living there and working on the house. The day we prepared for our first guest in 2008, I planned to take it out of the window and bring it to our house, only to discover he had permanently attached it to the window. I was a bit embarrassed at first, but people say that is how they know they've arrived at Annie's Cottage. OK, works for me. Now it just makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Who doesn't like to know they're loved?

The sunset this evening looked sculpted, a wide variety of cloud shapes and types, going this way and that.

I left the house feeling, once again, like I was in some enchanted place. There was a hint of 'Spring around the corner' in the air, and the sound of the water fall, and the sight of the lights under the water, encouraged me to linger for a little while on the porch before heading home. Great expectations well up in my heart these days. I can't explain it. I just expect great things.
