Bad Sledding
The old chestnut of a joke about our climate says that here on the prairies we get eight months of winter and four months of bad sledding.
This is the street in front of our house. It's no worse than lots of residential streets in the city and better than many. Right here it runs north-south so it gets all day benefit when the sun shines and temperatures rise above freezing. It's quite a welcome sight even if it's a pretty rough ride or a very treacherous walk. There is no sweeter music at this time of year than the sound of meltwater running into storm drains.
