The Black Loch
Mary-Anne Macawber
Macmutrie Twins,Angela and Helen
According to the old stone inscription it was in 1691 that the villagers of blachloch cast out the witches of the Village of Blachloch, upon saltire crucifixes.
The three woman were, Mary-Ann Macawber, Angela Macmutrie and her twin sister Helen Macmutrie.
Mary-Ann and the twins, were dragged from the village, pilloried, and awkward, cruscified and drowned to their deaths into the Black Loch.
The following day the villagers went to look for the decaying corpses and by the shore all they found was the 3 crucifixes standing upright.
The village of Blackloch diminished into obscurity since that year, 1692.
The remaining passages of the Scotchronicon refer for those remaining years speak of a pestilence and a plaguefor three years after.
There were periods only of darkness and only refer to the midnight fires and hell...
To this day, farmers regard the Black loch area as the ?DeadFields?.
