Men at work #2 - Yiannis the Tinsmith

As the title suggests, here we have the 2nd in the series of Symi folk going about their business.

This is Yiannis working on the spout for a watering can.. His workshop was the subject of this Blip a few days ago.

As I mentioned before, originally this was his grandfather Yiannis' workshop. The same name thing isn't a coincidence - the first son is usually named after the grandfather in Greece. Yiannis senior died in 2007 and his grandson has returned to Symi fairly recently to continue the family tradition.


Yiannis tells me that he has been learning his trade all his life as he was always around when his grandfather was working and often helped. Couldn't get more information as I was an unofficial break from work and had to get back quick to weigh some vegetables!
