Scary man

When I was just 9 or 10 I started being mad keen on gardening. The gardeners 'bible' back then was Mr. Middleton's Garden Book published by the Daily Express.....it was a book of many words, but it also had comic strips. The strips all involved Adam the Gardener, a fascinating character with a beard chiselled from English Oak. I quite liked Adam but the the scary man was Mr. Middleton, the author whose portrait appeared on the front page.
