Road Trip 2011

Today, I had a realisation (well, to be fair, it's been building up for a while). In 1 year, 8 and half months, I will be 40. Now, when the husband turned 30 (5 years ago, he's a veritable child), we drew up a list of things to accomplish before I was 40.

We have actually achieved a lot of them, including moving to a foreign country, but today I remembered another. To drive from one side of the US to the other. Now, bearing in mind that I only have two summers until I am 40, I need to get my skates on (seeing as it will be a cold day in Hell I would do it in the winter).

And then I had a lightbulb moment. The kids and I are going back to California for a month this summer anyway. Why not couple that with fulfilling a lifelong dream...twice?!! Admittedly, I didn't really envisage doing the trip just me, 4 kids, 2 dogs and a tent and having to drive all the way back again originally, but HEY! I do love a challenge! And even if we spend the whole time trying not to kill each other, you've got to admit it will be a summer the kids never forget.

Oh, and I know this was supposed to be a leprechaun trap, but that had long gone to school before I remembered I was supposed to blip it!
