Perspective
The end of two days of cycle briefing with the team.
It's been good, if a little odd at times (the franchise manager dressed as a giant cuddly bear on stage?!). It was cool for the team to get some recognition today. They missed out last night but after a splendid effort with the film-making exercise this afternoon, they (and I) have all gone home with shiny new pocket video cameras. Awesome! :-)
I was really reluctant to go to the meeting from its inception, for various reasons and after Monday, when I had a bad day emotionally, even less willing. I really felt that I couldn't face everyone and get stuck in the way I need to, to support the team and drive everyone forward during the sessions, encouraging them to contribute. There's a physical and emotional energy required to do that and it has been lacking recently.
That said, I was really buoyed by Monday evening and C and the kiddles being there for yesterday morning. Loads of people have wished me a "happy birthday" in the last 36 hours too, which is cool. Despite being knackered, I feel I have my mojo back...hurray!
It's all too easy to withdraw and feel sorry for oneself when things get tough. I guess the last couple of days have reinforced how many friends I have out there and how much support - je suis tres chanceux! :-)
