Cabbage Tree
The ubiquitous New Zealand native, Cordyline australis, which is one of the largest members of the Agave family.
For a while this morning the air was clear and the sky was blue. But after lunch the clouds returned and stubble fires filled the air with smoke once more.
Nice in large.
Edit: In reply to jerispics The young growing tips are edible. They have overlapping leaves like a cabbage. It is said that the early settlers gave them the name because of this. I don't know what they taste like. They were used by the Maori as food and medicine.
