Wine Country
Headed for some off season wine tastings. This place is Foxen Winery's tasting room... the original. Foxen was founded by a former British seaman who got tired of the water I guess. He headed inland to this area, married a rancher's daughter, took Mexican citizenship, got 8600 acres in a Spanish land-grant... and raised a family.
He was on the right side when Fremont's army came through and took California, so he got to keep his home.
This is the oldest winery in the Santa Ynez valley. Maybe an hour north of Santa Barbara and and hour south of Paso Robles. We had a great day. (No, I did not get to taste as I was driving)
