Motionless
I was watching a downy woodpecker eating suet at the feeder when all of a sudden he froze in place, becoming completely still. I looked up, and saw the reason why. Amazingly, the hawk either didn't see the downy, or else was hoping for a larger meal, because after a few tense minutes it flew off. The downy, just to be safe, continued to hold his motionless pose for about ten minutes longer; then, after eyeing the sky cautiously, resumed his meal.
