Ticking Away the Moments

Flags

Another trip to Twickenham today.

Before the game, a group of soldiers were awarded with Long Service & Good Conduct medals by Princess Anne - really good to see them get a standing ovation on their way round the stadium.

And before the anthems, Royal Marine Commandos abseiled down for the four corners of the stadium, bringing the flags with them. We had a good view from our seats so I took a few photos as they came down, here is one of them.

Strange game all round really. When the teams were coming out for the anthems, a fox decided to come onto the pitch and have a run round. The noise and crowds didn't seem to worry him at all, at one point he had a lie-down in the middle of the pitch. Eventually he went off, not sure if anyone managed to catch him or if he just trotted off into the sunset.

Later on the ref did something to his calf, he had to hop off and get a replacement ref on, I haven't seen that happen in an international game before.

In our other game, Worcester Warriors beat Bristol away, 15 - 44 the final score, in the first game of the play-offs so that was a relief. Must have been a fraught game, at one point, we were down to 13 men, but Bristol were down to 12 after a red card. Our fly half got a broken nose and my favourite player (Pat Sanderson) got a dislocated shoulder - he's going to be a big loss for the rest of the season.

Not as much fun today as usual as we came straight home after the game instead of staying to have a few drinks & listen to the karaoke before going for a curry.

Final score was England 22 - 16 Scotland in case you missed it.
