The Hills o' Hame....

.....another hike up Carnethy Hill today, this time with LLCoolJim and Master Jacob. I spent so much time in these hills in my early teenage years that the smells and sounds feel familiar and re-assuring; I don't think I'll ever lose that sense of being home when I'm tramping the Pentland paths. We stopped for a picnic on the top cairn just as low cloud settled in and the splendid views of the Esk Valley and Edinburgh were shrouded; shame. Undaunted and refreshed, we took the direct route off the hill via the main face, sliding down the scree and arriving back at the car in record time.

A short journey across Harlaw Muir to Lamancha to meet up with my sis, sis-in-law, niece and nephew at the farm. Refreshing pints of beer and cider were quaffed before our return to Edinburgh and a splendid meal of Moroccan Lamb and Sweet Potato was provided by Mrs LLCoolJim. Cracking day in the hills

I think Thomas Newman shall join my bath tonight.

p.s. Apologies to Stewart for failing to recognise him in a moment of complete fud'dom.
