Rest
I finally managed to fall asleep last night, though it was much later than I had hoped. Couldn't get my brain to stop processing things and then started watching a documentary about youth trying to come over the boarders of Mexico into the U.S. Very sad things. The boys were up early, as it always is on Saturday. The only day's they sleep in are school days. A strong cup of coffee, and I was up and about too.
We managed to clean up and tidy the house after all the tsunami ruckus. Things put back where they belong and life back to routine. It is really difficult to avoid probing the Internet for videos of our local area and the damage that's been caused. I found the last video got to me too much. It was only a video of the ocean (a safe vantage point) surging just 30 miles south in Bandon. What got to me (and the boys unfortunately) was the blaring siren that was going off. It had continued like that for several hours and even included a man stating to get out of low areas and to higher ground, because the tsunami was due to hit at 7 a.m.
This worked me up, because our own system was totally useless in this emergency. Most people just slept right through the 3 minutes of siren sounds. It did not continue, as the one in Bandon had. It just stopped...at 3 or 4 in the morning after only a few moments. I am hoping that our city upgrades soon. There are all sorts of reports now warning us that we are in for our own "big quake" soon. Seems we have a fault line just a couple hundred miles from our own coast. Super. I hope you can hear the sarcasm in my voice.
Anyways, no sense in dwelling on what could happen, hasn't happened and might never happen. Plus, any energy in thought should be directed to worrying about the nuclear reactors in Japan. I continue to watch (in awe) the Facebook updates from my friend who is visiting Japan right now and last asked which way the winds blow. Please let her and her young son stay safe.
I spent a great deal of time working on my photography site and am hoping to finish it up tomorrow. I've been so bad about that, but I know once it's done, I'll have some relief...or change it all again. haha
Found this little gem behind our metal fence being nearly choked by the bramble bushes. View in large.
