Saturday school.

Went to the day school for my environmental studies course today and one of our tasks was taking part in a mock climate change summit. Each representing a different small island state (I had Dominica), my fellow students and I had to put forward proposals to deal with the effects of global warming, one being the possibility of the sea rising to a level which would threaten our very existence.

Some demanded reductions in carbon dioxide emissions, others asked for financial aid and, of course, some disputed that climate change was happening at all. Who knows? But we all felt it was ironic that yesterday the Earth, once again, let us know who was really in charge.
