BRIDGES

Taken from above, here are the two bridges over the river Wear in Sunderland. The road bridge, completed in 1929 was designed by Mott, Hay and Anderson and built by Sir William Arrol & Co of Glasgow, this firm also built the forth rail bridge. The adjoining railway bridge was built in 1879, and extended the railway south from Monkwearmouth to the centre of Sunderland.
