Bob now knows how to operate an SLR: cock, aim, fire! Hmmmm, that works for more than just SLRs.

That could have been me, 30 some odd years ago (No need to be too specific). You see, that's my Dad's camera, one he got about 10 years before I was born. My destiny to become a Nikonian was sealed before I was born. And so I am laying out Bob's destiny right here, right now. From now on, when he thinks cameras, he will think Nikon. When he wants his first 'real' camera, he'll get one of my old Nikons (probably one I have not even dreamed up yet). Then, when the time comes for him to buy his own, well, he'll already have a stash of Nikon lenses, so what's he going to do?

Unless of course he wants to be a rebel and get a Rebel.

Note to non-Americans: Canon's entry level DSLRs are called Rebels here, your new 450D is our Rebel Xsi. Personally, I prefer the numbers, but we American's have to get the 'special' marketing.
