One that got away
The river had dropped back by about 18 inches overnight as it must have frozen up in the hills, which stopped the snow melting and the flood. It carried on dropping all day and was far more fishable than yesterday.
Around lunchtime, my line just went solid and a good fish had taken my fly. Dave came down to take pictures and we were figuring out where we could land it.
After a couple of slow deep runs, some head shaking and about ten minutes of arm ache, it came near to the bank, turned, and the hook pinged out. Great to connect with a fish, but I was gutted not to land it.
