making pilche cups!

yesterday we made our way to a rural community where they have a lodge for visitors to come and learn about the area and culture. we spent the night then went for a little walk in the morning, and helped out around the property... but before long a few of us were curious about the process for making cups our of pilche gourds (a hard fruit that grows on a tree). so here is mina, one of the volunteers, cleaning our her gourd. before long we had ourselves some cups, soon to drink tea out of!
