Reformed

I tried - and failed, sadly - to make it to a recital here this evening at 6pm: The Consort of Voices singing music by Whitacre, Lauridsen, Mantyarvi and Saint-Saens. I'd heard the group singing at the Canongate Kirk last August/September and greatly regret missing this performance.

Walking away from the Kirk down the High St to go home, I went into tourist mode and took a few shots of the Cathedral/High Kirk. Looking at them when I got home, the rather Darth Vader-ish effect of light and shadow in this one struck me. I don't know if there were ever statues in these niches (the building was restored by William Burns in the early 19th century), but the look eerily and significantly empty now
