Quick run with Mom to visit Uncle before he heads to Maine. Part of the trip was a stop in a forlorn shopping center for doughnuts...a bounty of options served by cranky women. As Lent starts on Tuesday, the place was hopping. In the part of PA my family is from, the Tuesday before Lent is celebrated with fastnacht, using all the fat to fry up doughnuts before the lean season begins.
