Golden Face of The Orphans.

The thing which attracted me to this collection of stories including The Orphans was the glorious cover.

It was beautifully tooled leather, with crisp fresh gold. The illustrations were wonderful. I posted one on Face Book, Twitter and Blip.

A few people wanted to know what had happened to the orphans. I went back to read the story and reveal all. But, it had sold.
This of course was good news for Staniland Books (in Uppingham) but we will never know the story, unless I find a modern version. Sorry Liz et al! I should have got to it sooner. I know it was a beauty, but I did not think it would go so fast.

E-books are great. But will our grand children or great grand children be able to enjoy them in 108 years, in the way this book can be?
