Palo Brea At Sundown
The Palo Brea tree is a very lovely and 'sticky' desert dweller. Also known as the Sonoran Palo Verde (Cercidium praecox). It can be found in my front
yard, which ironically is in the Sonoran Desert, hence its name.
Right now it is in the dormant stage, but in the summer the trunk and branches are a beautiful light green color. With tiny delicate blue-green heart shaped leaves that contrast with its bright magenta blossoms. Those show up in the early spring. It can grow to 20' tall under the right conditions.
I do believe that its bare branch form is the most stunning of all.
