White Faced Heron (Egretta novaehollandiae)

Day 09 White Faced Heron

A white-faced heron (Egretta novaehollandiae) seen at Oster Bay (near Snug), Tasmania, Australia.

There were several of these herons at this locality which is hooching with oyster beds. the herons seemed to be catching small fry no more than 2" long but there seemed to be lots of them present. The pictures that I got of them with food in their beaks were unacceptable as blips (either too blurred, or cluttered background). You'll just have to be satisfied with this.

On a personal note, I have now purchased a mobile dongle that works in this inverted country. I went for one which is half the price of the network with greatest coverage and even here near Hobart, the signal has dropped out a few times. As we will later be travelling around, I cannot guarantee to post every day, so be sure to check for back-blips if I ever miss out.

Hope you are enjoying these so far.
