Steep and Deep

No this isn't a self portrait of me crashing but a self portrait of me skiing through deep deep Japanese powder snow. Didn't realise I should have packed my snorkel. I was supposed to be skiing yesterday too but ended up having to work....booo. A long day trip from Tokyo saw me head out to near Nagano to a tiny resort that doesn't groom it's hill. Only one tow was working, but that was plenty enough to have a good go at the waist deep powder all day long.

The main building at Seki Onsen can be described as a shack at best, but the service was top rate. I managed to borrow one guys powder skis for the day, the lift ticket lady gave me a free lunch voucher, and sure enough she was the same person who served me up some rice and curry sauce in the restaurant.
